About High Desert Hummers

We are a small family run farm. We are breeding for calm, friendly, easy to handle animals. Also, good fiber and conformation is a must. We are breeding for llama's that have heavy wool and as little as possible guard hair, so they have silky or single coated fleeces. So far the llamas that we have tested for microns have been under 20 microns. We have several more to test from our 2013 shearing, stay tuned for the results!

We have now decided to add some Argentine breeding to our herd! We have only selected argentines that have superior fiber and excellent conformation. We do not pick our argentines just for the extreme coverage, we want to add bone to our current herd of silky's and suri's. We are also selecting argentines with color and that come from lines with color to add to our colorful herd of llamas. Look for our first half and quarter argentine crias in 2016! Will also have females for sale bred to our new full and half argentine studs.

Breeder Biography

After focusing on Bolivian and Chilean llamas with a little Peruvian lines, we are adding some new bloodlines to our herd in 2015. Stay turned for some exciting new additions to our foundation herd! We are still focusing on correct llamas with abundant silky fiber, color, beautiful heads, long necks and easy handle dispositions. Due to changes in our life we will be downsizing our herd. Several foundation females are now available. We are open to reasonable offers.
